For decades..she said the world wasn’t ready.
When it was finally published, generations later, it read less like self-help and more like prophecy.
“My greatest weapon over human beings is fear,” the Devil tells Hill. “I control the minds of men through habit… through the schools, the pulpits, and the press.”
Nearly a century later, the data look exactly as he warned. Children’s anxiety and depression have risen more than 400 percent since the 1960s. Fear has been industrialized. Birth was taken from the home, education from the parents, and both were renamed progress.
But the remnant rises anyway. Despite relentless erasure of midwives, and despite every government incentive to outsource learning, homebirth and homeschooling are growing faster than at any time in modern history.
I’ve been homeschooling and homebirthing for two decades. When I began, it wasn’t fashionable. There were no Pinterest boards, no curriculum boxes, no Instagram reels of linen-clad families reading aloud. It was the era when CPS was beginning to weaponize “safety”—families like ours targeted for refusing vaccines, drinking raw milk, or teaching our own children at home.
We weren’t rebels. We were obedient.
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” — Deuteronomy 6:6-7
That’s homeschooling. That’s discipleship. And that’s what the adversary can’t mechanize.
They came for the womb first, then for the mind. First they took birth out of the home. Then they took education out of the home. Now they’re after the home itself.
But Hill wrote that the Devil’s control requires agreement through fear. He can build the system, but he still needs our consent.
